3 Ways to Support Your Child's Teachers
Find out impactful ways parents can support teachers during the back-to-school season and beyond.
This year, we talked to teachers to find out impactful ways parents can support them during the back-to-school season and beyond. If you’re sending a child to school this year, read through these quick tips on how you can help your child’s teacher!
Also, if you’re an educator, let us know what else we might add by emailing us at katie@blocksrock.com. We hope this can be a resource families use for years to come.
1. Communicate with your child’s teacher!
Teachers told us it’s a big help when guardians read emails or notes sent home. They’re communicating with you regarding your child or other important information—so be sure to check it out.
Also, if your child’s teacher sends home a form for more information about your student, please fill it out with as much detail as you can! It helps them and also opens communication with you.
2. Be conscious of classroom supplies.
Here are three ways parents can help teachers with supplies:
First, be conscious of the supplies you buy. If you don’t want it in your house, teachers don’t want it in their classrooms. Some examples would be scented glue sticks, pop it pencil cases/rules, or anything that causes a distraction.
Second, open all your kid’s supplies. It’ll make those first few days go so much easier for teachers!
Third, if you have any additional supplies, consider donating them to your child’s classroom teachers. Teachers pay a lot out of pocket, and by donating items to this, you’re directly supporting the classroom your child will be in.
3. Look for other opportunities to support your local teachers.
If you can help teachers financially, consider exploring an option like DonorsChoose or Amazon Lists to directly contribute to learning tools and activities that will benefit your child.
And yes, teachers are still filling their lists! If you’re able to donate, you might even consider supporting teachers beyond the ones you know. You can contribute to Blocks Rock! requests or search for teachers to support in your community.
If you aren’t able to financially contribute—that’s okay! You can also seek out other opportunities where you can volunteer your time at your children’s school.
Wishing you a wonderful school year!
